Update: The Update command downloads new software to an iPod. The Update command may be disabled if the iPod does not need to be updated because it already has up-to-date software. Restore: The Restore command returns an iPod to "factory fresh" condition. It erases and reformats the iPod before downloading new software. You will need to uninstall "iTunes," "QuickTime," "Apple Software Updater," "Apple Mobile Device Support," "Bonjour" and "Apple Application Support." Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "Uninstall a program." To uninstall a program, select it from the programs list and click the "Uninstall" button.WARNING: The Restore command erases all of the music and other data currently on the iPod. Restart your computer when you finish uninstalling all the iTunes software.Ĭlick "Start" and select "Computer" after the computer has restarted. Navigate to "C:\Program Files" and delete the "Bonjour," "iTunes," "iPod," and "QuickTime" folders. Open the "Common Files" folder within "Program Files" and delete the "Apple" folder. Launch a Web browser and navigate to the Old Apps website at Ĭlick "iTunes" in the "Audio Utilities" section and download the previous version of iTunes that you want to install on your computer.
